Are You Planning A Sick Day?

Posted on Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 at 10:35am

I'm sure we have all felt like it at some point or another - the knowledge that you can stay in bed rather than getting up for work is often tempting, but do you actually ring in sick when there's nothing wrong with you?

Apparently, almost 2million workers are planning to do just that over Christmas, so that they can go christmas shopping...

Young employees are the worst offenders, with one in ten planning to splash the cash, rather than being at work earning an honest living.

Tax on Bigger Bras

Posted on Sunday, September 14th, 2008 at 11:41am

M&S have defended a policy of charging extra on some of its bras, which are bigger cup sizes than a DD. The added cost, usually £2, was reported as being standard industry practice.

The store added that they found most customers were happy to pay that little bit extra, to ensure the specialist work to make the larger sizes was carried out. But some people are not happy. The policy has drawn protests via Facebook, with nearly 3700 people joining Busts 4 Justice - the founders of which believe it is unfair for smaller bras to be cheaper, as the logic doesn't apply to other clothes.

The M&S website advertises their Ceriso Polka Dot Padded Bra at £12, which rises to £14 for the larger cup version, made in DD to G sizes. The protesters are arguing that if it costs more to make a larger bra, then this added cost should be added to larger items of clothing, but it isn't. Most of the posts on the Facebook group are supporting the women's efforts to have the policy reconsidered.
